How was my studying in Palestine

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いています。スクロールしてください↓) Hi~ How are you going ? Finally I graduated from the university in Palestine! So after a few days I'll go back to Japan. I miss Palestine, Palestinian friends, teachers, foods, sweets, Kuktel, olive oil and so on. Honestly the life is really different from that of Japan so it was hard for me from the beginning to the end. Of course I knew pretty much how the life of Palestine is before coming here because some people told me about that. But when I finally tried it, it's harder than I thought. I give you guys due warning that, it's not the meaning that Palestine is bad country compared to Japan, or rather I found a lot of beautiful things in Palestine. Especially I was deeply moved by Palestinian people's warm hearts. I feel like we Japanese have wider personal spaces than other countries, so sometimes not friendly. But Palestinian are really friendly even as first meeting in the taxi or bus, on the street , anywhere anyti...

Tasty foods in Palestine

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いてます。スクロールして下さい↓) Hi guys~ In Palestinian Ramaḍān has started! Congratulations!! I'm not Muslim but try fasting. It's hard for me, but really nice opportunity to realize impotence of foods again. Today I'll tell you about foods in Palestine. I don't know why I didn't do so yet because really love eating! In Japan we don't go to the Arabic restaurant very much, so I tried almost of meals I'll introduce from now on here first time. Took many pictures for you ~ Here we go! First, named "Maqluba ". This is the most famous Palestinian food and means like "turned upside down" in Arabic. Before we eat it, we turn the pot over on the plate so that it's named like this. Next, " Musakkhan". It includes like bread, olive oil and onion. We eat it with chicken. I love it so much! Really tasty ~ Next is "Tabbula", kind of salads. That yellow powder is groats. I love it so much, too. ...

Movie Theater in Palestine

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いています。スクロールしてください↓) Hi guys ~ It's quite sudden, but do any of you like watching movies?? I thought there is not movie theaters in Palestine, but actually there is. My friends took me to there and we enjoyed it. In Japan we can choose one of so many kinds of movies, and there are 2 kinds languages English or Japanese. But here is different. We had to choose from only 3 kinds...Haha And each of those are screened just one time by a day. So watched "FERDINAND". I guessed it was in Arabic, but in English ... And maybe for kids. It was not good not bad but I wanted to watch it in Arabic. In Japan we usually watch with drinking juice or eating popcorn. So I wanted to buy them! But they were very very expensive... so we gave up. And movie is about $6. This is not expensive and so much cheaper than Japan. After that, we drank this! Named "Kuktel". This is made of like mix shake, some fruits and ice cream❤︎ In Japan we ...

My Love Jerusalem

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いています。スクロールしたください↓) Hello hello~ Sorry, about 2 month has passed since I came this blog before. I went to Jerusalem twice. And I saw "Dome of the Rock" I wanted to see the best!! The guide book I have says that the area is opened from 13:30, but actually until 13:30. So there was usually closed when I visited... If you wanna see it, please go by 13:30! This is the best picture I took. Of course there are many tourists, so it's hard to take pictures like this. When you were high school students, you have seen this Dome on the text book of social studies, right? I was really impressed. You know, Jerusalem is famous for holy land of 3 kinds of religions, Islam, Christ and Judaism. This is Church of the Holy Sepulcher. I preyed a lot here. Christians were singing Hymns , when I went to there first time. This is Wailing Wall. Though you can't see in this picture, there were a lot of papers on the wall. I heard Jewish write th...

Winter vacation

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いています。スクロールしてください↓) Happy new year guys! Please continue reading this blog a year 2018,too ! Just 1 month has passed since I wrote before. Our winter vacation started from December 31 after a lot of exams for a week. My Dad came to Palestine and traveled to Jerusalem, Jericho, Nablus, Tubas, and Dead Sea. I planted an itinerary for him, and he enjoyed very much so I was so happy. Of course my Arabic helped us a lot, that's the most happiest thing for the trip. These links take you to  my blog about Jerusalem and Jericho ! Jerusalem: http://zahra-s-blog.blogspot.com/2017/11/jerusalem.html?m=1 Jericho: http://zahra-s-blog.blogspot.com/2017/10/recent-events.html?m=1 Today's first picture is Dead Sea! I asked locals about it, they said that the temperature of it is about 25 to 30℃ so we can swim in winter. But there was cold, so maybe few people swim now... And the banks of Dead Sea are more than 400m below sea level. It's so strange that we wer...

My studying Arabic

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いています。スクロールしてください↓) Hi guys hello~ It has passed 3 months since I started to study Arabic here. Today I'll tell you how I study it. This picture is my diary. When I was 13 or 14, my best friend gave me this notebook. Maybe she doesn't remember that...Haha Honestly Arabic is very difficult for me because the grammar is so far from that of Japanese. I have to study it harder. Of course classes in university are very good, but I think they are not enough to make progress more. So I write dairy every day, and show it my teacher every after the classes. Like this Other way studying is watching drama, animation or news in Arabic. I like Korean drama very much, so often do it. My friends here also love Karen drama. Recently I watch Japanese animation in Arabic. It's so famous and popular in Palestine, and many Palestinian watched when they were children. I was little surprised to know that. I knew Japanese animation was popular in America or ...

How Is Wedding In Palestine ?

イメージ
(下に日本でも書いてます。スクロールしてください↓) Hello ~! I was busy because of traveling for a long time haha After the trip,I was invited to the wedding of my love teacher! This was very precious experience for me, so of course I went. The picture is inviting card. Like Arabic and so beautiful~ The wedding was very very different from that of Japanese!! Surprised for me, and my friends (German and Greek) too. I will tell you Palestine style wedding with comparing to Japanese one. In Palestine Dancing and dancing! The bride(teacher) and groom keep dancing about more two hours. On the stage they danced and their families sometimes did together. In Japan no one dances. I wondered a thing. It's that there was no man in the hall except a groom. And end of the wedding, some men entered. This is because of religion. When there was no man, the bride wore the beautiful wedding dress which is off shoulder and tiara. But before men come, she wore the cl...

Jerusalem

Damascus Gate  ダマスカス門 (下に日本でも書いてます。スクロールしてください↓) Good evening everyone. Yesterday,I went to Jerusalem first time! It was  so moody and beautiful. I wanted to see The Dome Of The Rock the best, but couldn't see because it was closed... Oh my gosh... I'll go there again another time and show you the beautiful picture! Look forward to that! I saw many other nice buildings. This is"Church of the Holy Sepulchre". Inside   It was so crowded. Many Christians were praying here. By the way, I have no religion. Almost people are surprised and incredible this idea. In Palestine, I have not seen the person who has no religion. I am often asked what religion I have, but I don't have. It is sure that I think there is God(I don't know how many god there are), but I don't think what he (or she) did for us and how is he (or she). I know you think it's strange because I learned about God in universi...

Recent events

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いています。スクロールしてください↓) Hello! Sorry, recently I was busy because of examination and presentation. Today, I will talk about recent events. -October 14 - My friends from Palestine took me to the village to pick up olive! That was so nice experience for me because there are few olive in Japan. Maybe just Shoudo Island (in Japan). I thought I could bring olive to my house and would make olive oil, but I couldn't that. I asked my friend why, she said that we need special work to make olive oil because olive is so hard. It was true that It was so hard, although It looks like grap. That's why olive oil is made in factory. At the village,we had lunch! my friend's mother cooked Palestinian meal for us. This is one of the famous food in Palestine,"Musakkhan". This has onion and like bread. We ate this with chicken. It was the most tasty in Palestine for me Haha. I think you can cook in your country maybe. - October 21 - My friends...

Trip

イメージ
(下に日本語でも書いていますのでスクロールしてください↓) Hello. I'm very busy this week. Last Saturday, We went on a picnic as a school event. The main purpose of the trip was visiting the famous places of Palestine and I enjoyed it very much. We went to the Hebron. First, glass factory. I have seen it on TV, but it was my first time to see the actually. I bought a souvenir there. It's Tajine! Tajine is a traditional pot in the Arab world. The shape of it is so cute? Haha Why is the shape like this ? This is because that the steam from the ingredients is changed to water drops and the amazing cap makes water drops drip to the pan. By doing so, you can keep tasty and flavor. Next was the carpet factory. Some people imagine a carpet when you hear "Arab"? There were many machines for making carpets, and the carpets were weaved line by line. It will take a lot of time to complete. Next is a shoe factory. I was able to see all processes that shoes are made one by o...

My hobby these days

イメージ
(日本語でも書いています。下にスクロールしてください↓) Good evening! Last Saturday, I had class in university especially. That's because our teacher was absent on last Thursday. Honestly I wanted to sleep well...Haha Today,I'll tell you about my hobby. I don't know if I can say "hobby". It's what I have tried hard since I came here! Cooking!! I didn't cook when I was in Japan, because I lived with my family. So I worried if I can do. And in Palestine, there's not enough condiments to cook Japanese meal. For example, soy sauce, alcohol or sweet sake and so on... Muslims can't eat them because of their religion.(written in Quran) So I gave up to cook Japanese meals , and I decided to cook Turkey meal! Turkey is Islamic society so I can get ingredients for Turkey meal in Palestine. That picture is "Dolma" I cooked first. Pimento includes rice. It was so tasty. This is "Imambayildi". Actually we u...

My weekend

イメージ
(下に日本語あります。スクロールしてください↓) Hello everyone. This weekend, I have many my homeworks so I'm tired... Today, I will tell you about my weekend in Palestine! In Palestine, Friday and Saturday are our weekend. I am not used to that yet because in Japan we have weekend on Saturday and Sunday. How is your country? My roommates go back their house every weekend,so I 'm alone and free. On Friday,I usually do something I want to do,for example watching YouTube, cooking, or shopping. I go shopping to the small town near my house. I buy many vegetables and fruits there because of course I love them so much and I cook every day here. This is the picture of shop I often go. Wonderful ~♡ Palestine has a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. Looks tasty, right? Of course so tasty. In Japan, vegetables and fruits are packed, but in Palestine not that. I can choose them I want and how many I buy. I think that's a good idea because we needn't buy too...

Religion in Palestine

イメージ
(下に日本語で書いてます。スクロールしてください↓) Hello everyone! This picture is not Nablus,it's Tubas in Palestine. Today,I went to my friends' house in Tubas. This is the view of which I saw from the roof. Today I talk about religion. In Palestine, most of people are Muslims. In Japan, there are few Muslims,so I feel fresh. I learned they have to  pray 5 times every day. But actually they don't. It seems that they have to pray only when they can. If they cannot do,they don't need to do,for example, when they are in the school, they play with their friends or they go out. And some women who are Muslims wear Hijab, but others don't. Although I thought Muslims mustn't smoke,I saw some Muslims smoking. I studied about Islam culture, religion and history in Japan, but I was surprised that what I leaned was different from what I actually saw here. Of course, there are many things as I learned. For instance,Palestine doesn't have pork. I haven't seen it here. In...

About the life in Palestine

イメージ
Hello. 2 weeks will have passed since I came to Palestine. The picture is near my house. Theses days, I'm getting to communicate with my friends(Palestinian) in Arabic with SNS, so it is a lot of fun! Today, I tell you about the life in Palestine. First, what I was most surprised is matter of water. In my city, I live in Nablus in Palestine, we are only provided water once in 10 days. I didn't know that , so I was surprised very much when water stopped last week . I found water is important and precious. And the regulation in Nablus is useful for protecting global warming. In Japan, I think we use too water. Second, I felt that Japan has many convenient tool. For example, when I cook. Do you know peeler?? You might not know. Peeler is the tool to peel fruits and vegetables. I always use it in Japan but my roommates don't know it. They peel by knife. And in Palestine, there is no train. We always use taxi. Fee of taxi is cheaper than it ...

Started my studying abroad!!

Hello! I arrived at Palestine 3days ago and lessons in university have started since yesterday. Now, I live with 3 Palestinians. I was worried to hear that I live with them, but they are so kind of me. They always tell me Arabic. And they and I go to same university so I can ask them anything about university. By the way, I don't like bread in Japan, but I can eat bread made in Palestine! It's so tasty. And in Palestine, vegetables or fruits are so low-price and they are good. I bought 2 small peaches  for about 30yen yesterday. 2days ago, I had lunch with 3 men. From Palestine,Italy and Armenia. Palestinian is my assistant. Italian and Armenian volunteer at refugee camps in Palestine. So they study Arabic hard. It was a lot of fun to talk with them. In university, I am middle class. It's difficult for me to listen Arabic in lessons, but I try to understand what teacher says. What I must remember is very much,so I try hard!! And this studying abroad w...

Welcome!!

Hello!! I'm Zahra. I'm not good at English. But I want many people in the world to read my blog so I try to write in English. Have you read my profile? As written there,I'm going to Palestine. I haven't been to Palestine yet. We Japanese might have a bad image against Palestine or Islam. When I have searched for the "イスラム"(Islam in Japanese) on the internet , many scary images came out. Next,I tried to search for the "Islam",many beautiful images came out. I tried that in Korean(이슬람),Chinese(清真) and Turkey(İslam). As a result, none of them came out bad images. At that time,I thought Islam may have more good parts than I imagine and especially Japanese don't know that. That's why,I started this blog. I'll tell you what I see, feel and experience actually. I will write in earnest in August!! Please come again ~☆☆ Thank you. 初めまして! ザハラです。 英語は得意ではありませんが、より多くの方に読んでいただきたいという思いから、このブログは英語で書くことにしました! とはいえ外国の方に読んでいただけ...
